Karlsruhe, Germany – July 3, 2025 – aicas is proud to announce the release of JamaicaVM 8.10 and JamaicaAMS 1.2. This update adds support for version 8.0 of the QNX realtime operating system and version 24.03 of VxWorks. It provides extensive OS support across key embedded and realtime environments, including BlackBerry QNX, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, and custom platforms, increasing deployment flexibility for running the same code across a larger number of supported platforms.
aicas has worked closely with both QNX and Wind River in global partnerships for many years. This level of cross-platform support enables developers to scale more efficiently, accelerate deployment, and reduce costs by unifying their software stack across heterogeneous environments.
JamaicaVM provides a robust runtime environment for realtime Java applications, with advanced building and introspection tools to optimize performance and footprint. The latest version enables an even greater number of developers to benefit from low-latency Java on their preferred embedded hardware, including x86_64, AArch64, and RISC-V architectures. It fully supports the Realtime and Embedded Specification for Java 2.0; thereby simplifying the development of time-based and event-based systems. It is memory-safe, making it particularly suitable for mission-critical applications in the automotive sector as well as in various mobility and industrial segments. JamaicaVM has been deployed millions of times across various market segments.
JamaicaAMS, aicas’ dynamic application management system, enables customers to update and reconfigure applications at runtime without any downtime. It facilitates component-based architectures with a modular, service-oriented application structure. Version 1.2 further strengthens its integration with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
Designed for modern edge and IoT scenarios, the aicas EdgeSuite includes JamaicaVM and JamaicaAMS and offers the following enhancements:
- Application building blocks for use cases in the automotive, industrial, and telematics sectors
- Secure device and software management across entire fleets
- Data management and visualization in the cloud
- Seamless integration of AI systems
- Full lifecycle software management with support for over-the-air updates
What Is new in JamaicaVM 8.10 and JamaicaAMS 1.2?
In addition to general performance improvements and expanded OS support, the latest releases include the following enhancements:
- QNX 8.0 and VxWorks 24.03 support on multiple system architectures for both JamaicaVM and JamaicaAMS;
