Businesses have been slow to launch IoT projects. Adopting an IT-mindset just may be the spark they need.

As we move past the hype stages of IoT implementation, many businesses are eager to start a digital transformation of operations to tap into the multitude of benefits—from increased availability and reliability to efficiency and safety.

Instead, with IoT in a relatively early stage, companies still need guidance to clear their hurdles: an understanding of how an IoT deployment will impact both hardware and software; an indication of which standards and protocols to follow; and with IoT bringing data management to the edge, satisfaction that overall end-to-end security isn't a concern.

The solution to each of those can be found in the integration of IT and OT at the technology, process, security and organization levels. At aicas, we're helping companies build that bridge as a key success factor in IoT deployment.

Ultimately the convergence of IT and OT is a must-do to activate business productivity and realize the full value gains from the IoT. This isn't all about adopting technologies and processes, but also new ways of thinking, as two worlds converge. Please get in touch with our team to find out more.

Event Recap

IoT World Santa Clara

We used our opportunity to participate in the IoT World Conference in Santa Clara, CA, to meet with dozens of companies that are exploring how realtime and edge technologies trends and issues will impact the auto and manufacturing industries.

aicas CEO Dr. James Hunt led multiple discussions, including an IIC Intelligent Transport Systems Workshop on the auto industry's shift from hardware manufacturer to software-driven developers of edge devices and the challenges that lie ahead in meeting safety and reliability standards for autonomous mobility. Additionally, James addressed emerging IIoT challenges as edge devices evolve into the collection points capable of processing massive amounts of realtime data in IIoT, especially for predictive maintenance.

North American Sales Director Paul Sexauer and Lead Application Framework Engineer Michael Reimann further demonstrated for attendees the practical applications of aicas' software for analysis, runtime and real-time embedded systems.

Event Recap

TU Automotive Detroit

Our North American Sales Director Paul Sexauer was among the leaders discussing the future of auto tech and innovation at this event in the heart of Motor City.

We participated in this largest tech and auto conference to meet with customers and the attendees that needed a first-hand perspective on the latest technology developments. That included automakers learning how to develop and adapt connected and autonomous car strategies and the Tier 1 suppliers they do business with. An important focus of the event was ideas – from the hardware OEMs need to build and the software needed to manage new products and services that are in high demand.

Welcome aboard, Thomas Hentschel!

We are very excited to welcome Thomas Hentschel as our new Solutions Architect for North America, based in the San Francisco Bay area. Thomas brings deep experience in architecture, design and implementation of real-time control embedded systems and peer interfaces.

Prior to joining our team, Paul was a Software Architect at the San Jose-based Lam Research where he led industrial embedded systems architecture development. Thomas additionally brings the experience of IT system administration and software architecture from his work at Novellus Systems and Draexlmaier Automotive of America.
