'Future Trends and Challenges for Avionic Software Systems'
by Dr. Fridtjof Siebert and Dr. James J. Hunt
Sept 18, 4:30PM - 5:30PM
Course Number: ESC-2030
Military/Aerospace Design track
Room 304
Abstract:
Object-oriented approaches are becoming standard, while multicore systems require thinking about parallel execution. New standards for avionic software, in particular the new DO-178C with its supplement DO-332 pave the way for the application of object-oriented approaches in the avionics domain.
This session will show the impact this move has on avionic software with its real-time and safety-critical requirements. Solutions for the application of technologies such as inheritance and automatic memory management will be presented. The specific requirements of the avionics field have to be addressed to ensure that, in the long run, avionic software systems will profit from the developments that are changing the computer and software industry.
